Western Disturbance sweeps North and Northwest India with good rains, weather to go dry, clouding in next Midweek

 



Western Disturbance that gave light to moderate rains over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh has now moved away, leading to clear and sunny weather. This system has improved the rain deficiency over east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal and Uttrakhand.

Cumulative Rainfall since 1Jan to 5Feb 2021:-

Large Excess = East Rajasthan (218 %)
• Excess = Haryana Chandigarh Delhi (59%)
• Normal= Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (-9%), West Uttar Pradesh (10%), West Rajasthan (6%)
• Deficient= Punjab (-44%) , Himachal Pradesh (-49%), Uttrakhand (-24%)
• Large Deficient= East Uttar Pradesh (-95%)

OUTLOOK

♦️Dry and cool northwesterlies are now back, thus minimum temperature dropped over the region of northwest plains from last 2 days. Expect night temperatures to remain in single digits over many places of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh for next few days. Gradual rise in Minimum temperature expected from 9/10 February.

♦️Day temperatures to show rising trend now, days to be sunny and warm due to sharp sunshine. Parts of West Rajasthan may see 33°c + temperature later next week.

♦️Also there is high content of moisture in the atmosphere, therefore shallow to moderate fog could be expected in some parts Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for next 2-3 days.

♦️A feeble system (jet stream) will be flowing past through northern Himalayas, may led to intervals of high clouds in major parts of plains during 9-11 February. Thus partly- mostly cloudy skies expected between the period. No rainfall expected through this system anywhere.

No Active WDs expected for next 10 days, So Weather to remain dry atleast till 15th February.
