BACK TO BACK ACTIVE WDs TO LASH FRESH RAINS/SNOW TO HILLS, THUNDERSTORMS OVER PLAINS

 

NORTHERN HILLS

Successive WESTERN DISTURBANCES likely to dump moderate rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, light to moderate rains to occur over Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. Higher reaches of hills can expect snowfall. First WD is expected to affect hills from today and is in action now, Second one is expected in early next week.

NORTHWEST PLAINS

WHEN 

Rainfall activities likely to start from late tonight in parts of Rajsthan and Punjab mentioned below. Tomorrow morning till tomorrow night, spread and intensity to increase in more areas of Punjab, Haryana, North/east Rajasthan, West & South Uttar Pradesh, North and east Madhya Pradesh. Parts of central Uttar Pradesh likely to receive short light shower spell between 12th night - 13th early morning.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Northwest plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh may expect dust storms, thunderstorms, light to moderate rains accompanied with gusty winds of 50-70 kmph, hails, at some places. Partly cloudy- mostly cloudy weather is expected for tomorrow over many parts. This system may grow as the first typical spring storm of the season in the form of squall line. That will be updated at the time of clouds formation in Nowcasting.

MAIN AREAS UNDER EFFECT

Parts of Punjab, Haryana, North & east Rajasthan, Delhi NCR, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh may get affected most from the activities. 

⚠️From strong gusty winds, intense showers, there stands a possibility of damage of standing wheat and mustard crops in the regions mentioned above. Worried about farmers and crops.
